Evanthia Tambosis
Evanthia Tambosis is a Senior Hospital Scientist in the Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Department Concord Hospital. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of NSW majoring in Microbiology and Biochemistry and a Fellowship from the Australian Society of Microbiology. Evanthia has 33 years of experience in clinical diagnostic microbiology. She is part of the senior scientific management team in the Department of Microbiology at Concord Hospital and is instrumental in the training, education and mentoring of staff. She has a particular passion for mycology and has twice won the ASM Mycology award. For the past 14 years, Evanthia has co-organised and presented the Medical Mycology Workshop to scientists and medical officers from around Australia and internationally. In this practical mycology presentation, Evanthia will provide a practical guide for the identification of fungi in a typical microbiology laboratory focusing on phenotypic characteristics.
