Anja Zelmer
I am a 3rd year PhD candidate and German pharmacist at the University of Adelaide. My PhD project is to investigate how S. aureus adapts intracellularly in osteocytes to cause persistent and recurrent infections. Furthermore, I am investigating how these adaptations influences current antibiotic treatments. In this project I am enjoying the interdisciplinary approach of clinical surgery, microbiology, bio-molecular science and pharmaceutical science as well as the combination of basic science and its direct impact on current clinical therapies.
