John K Ferguson
Dr John Ferguson is a Microbiologist and Infectious Diseases Physician with Hunter New England Health and a conjoint associate professor with the University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia. His interests include laboratory quality management, healthcare-associated infection control and antimicrobial resistance and stewardship. He is the lead microbiologist for the UK supported Fleming Fund PNG Country grant that is tasked with developing 5 diagnostic microbiology services at 5 hospitals across PNG. He is the current president of the Pacific Region Infectious Diseases Association (pridanetwork.org). His research interests include healthcare-associated urinary tract infection, epidemiology and control of healthcare associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and vancomycin-resistant enterococcus , analysis of the relationship between antibiotic use and bacterial resistance and neonatal infections.
