A 37-year-old female with stomach pain was referred to The Northern Hospital Infectious Diseases (ID) Clinic with symptoms of dyspepsia, Iliac fossa pain, reflux and right upper quadrant tenderness.
She was then referred to radiology for a U/S investigation of her abdomen on the 27/07/19. Two cysts were seen in examination, one measuring 64mm and the other at 82mm.
Abnormal blood tests were consistent with liver failure and inflammation.
Microscopy of liver aspirate showed hydatid cysts and scolex.
